A logo that lands even from a distance, stands on its own, and still clearly belongs to the IG-Metall family.
The Brief
The task was a striking mark with strong long-distance recognisability - one that reads instantly on flags, banners and placards even from far away. It needed to keep the link to IG-Metall while showing the youth group's own identity, with a clear reference to Munich in the key visual.
The Approach
I developed the logo hand in hand with the group. The real work was the balance: close enough to the parent organisation for the sense of belonging to stay legible, without imitating it - and with enough of its own voice for the youth group to visibly stand for itself.
Part of the family, yet its own
Logos for the subgroups of a large organisation are always a tightrope walk: too close, and the independence vanishes; too far, and the sense of belonging is lost. The appeal lay in exactly that balance - and in making Munich visible as a connecting element without tipping into folklore.
The Solution
A high-contrast, independent mark with local identity that echoes the IG-Metall family without copying it, and holds up even at a great distance. Pared back enough to hold its own in a crowd, distinctive enough to stay in the memory.
The Result
What remains is a strong visual presence with plenty of documented applications, from small to large-scale, from the flag to the digital front. A mark the IG-Metall-Jugend München can show up with, indoors and out.
